Ernie Harker has worked in the advertising and branding business since 1993 following illustration studies at the University of Utah and Utah State University.

 

Ernie founded a creative production studio in 1995 called 8fish after providing concept development and digital design at Salt Lake City ad agency Dahlin Smith White for clients including Intel, Netscape, Iomega, Word Perfect, and more.

 

In addition to his expertise in illustration and branding his diverse background includes author, animator, producer, and the host of the travel show Xtreme Tourist. He is presently the Executive Director of Marketing for regional convenience retail powerhouse Maverik, Inc. He has served on the Educational Content Committee for the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) since 2015.

 

He is a father of four, loves movies, junk food, drawing, hanging out with his seven brothers and training for triathlons. His friends call him Ernburn.

Brandon Estoque

Brandon Estoque is the digital marketing analytics manager within the Publishing Services Department for the LDS Church. His team focuses on using data and technology to improve every facet of digital marketing, including web, mobile, social, video and more. 

 

Brandon graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Marketing Management and is currently working on a Master's in Data Science. Previous employment includes positions at Icon Health and Fitness, Real Salt Lake, and the Department of Commercialization and Economic Development at USU. When Brandon is not working hard in Microsoft Excel, he is usually found outside. He and his wife, Kelsey, recently welcomed their first baby boy into their family. 

 

Erin Ann McBride

Erin Ann McBride is equal parts Carrie Bradshaw, Mother Teresa, and Anne Shirley- a writer, humanitarian, and daydreamer.

 

When she’s not writing or chasing unicorns, you can find her serving in the slums of the world. And to finance her adventures she’s been known to work in marketing and write books.

Brandon Doyle is the Founder & CEO of Wallaroo Media, a full-service digital marketing and advertising agency.

 

He graduated in Finance from Brigham Young University.

 

He is married with four young children. He enjoys technology, travel, bologna sandwiches, sports, and investing.

PETE TIDWELL

The Mighty Baker, LLC

Generation Y, a Generation to Follow

Peter Tidwell is the chef and owner of The Mighty Baker based in Provo, Utah. He competed in the Food Network’s “Cake Wars” and took top prize in the 2016 competition. His second cake from the competition was featured at the 2016 “Halo” world championship.

​

His first-round cake was a cranberry cake with a honey/blue cheese frosting built in the shape of a giant Flood infection form from the Halo game. His second cake, a scene of heroes and villains battling across the bottom layer, along with a victorious Master Chief character perched atop a transparent circular base at the pinnacle of the cake, was created with a chocolate brownie pound cake with a vanilla Italian buttercream.

He returned to "Cake Wars" in 2017, competed against past champions, and took first place again.

​

Tidwell earned his bachelor’s degree in communications and an emphasis in advertising from Brigham Young University. He worked in marketing for a number of years with doTERRA and L’Oréal and lived in New York. In New York during his free time, he visited bakeries, studied culinary school textbooks, and experimented at home.

​

After he and his wife, Charlotte, returned to Utah, he opened a custom cake business in his parents' home, which soon expanded to its present location in the heart of Provo.

KATHY HAJEB

Asst. Professor, David Eccles School of Business
Lassonde Institute Dir. of Operations

Kathy Hajeb, Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of business, teaches courses in innovation and entrepreneurship and runs the Innovation Scholar program. She is also the Lassonde Institute Director of Operations and manages a professional staff responsible for student programming, institute marketing, finance and operations. The Lassonde Studios, a student residence and innovation prototyping and workshop space is home to these programs. Kathy, in partnership with campus housing partners, manages the recruiting, onboarding and residential experience for over 400 student residents.

 

Kathy has created a variety of student innovation and entrepreneurship programs challenging students of all ages to match their passion with a purpose. Prior to joining the University of Utah in 2003, she held a variety of strategic planning, marketing, acquisition, regulatory and financial roles in the natural resource industry. Kathy received both bachelor and master’s degrees from the University of Utah.

ALISON J. PRINCE

CEO of AlisonJPrince.com, Serial Entrepreneur

After building her 3rd successful multi-million dollar business, Alison decided it was time to teach her 10 and 13-year old daughters how to start their own business.  

 

After 9 months, her girls (jr. high and elementary age) sold their first 6 figures online.  She went on to teach her sister and friends how to replicate the process before she launched her 0-100K System coaching program.   

 

Now she is teaching over 1500 'clanners' how they can make this their reality too.  #BecauseICanClan

David Brian Fiso

David was born and raised in Orem, UT where he still lives with my wife, three boys, and dog.

 

He has spent the last several years of his career in digital marketing and content creation after completing his degree in Marketing at Utah Valley University.

 

David loves to create content that inspires, adds value, and encourages engagement.

 

As the Digital Marketing Manager at ANS, he leads a small team that produces email, social media, and ad copy for their clients. 

Pedro Da Silva

Pedro was born in Portugal and raised in Belgium before moving to Salt Lake City in 2017 to study Social Media Marketing at LDS Business College.

 

Pedro has spent the past two years studying and working in the area of social media.

 

He loves music, sports and learning about different cultures and was recently married!

--Driving Conversions: Why Content is Still King--

Jared Covington is digital strategist and marketing executive with a proven ability to lead organizations through digital transformations. He has a deep understanding of the modern consumer, as well as the experience to convert that into effective, measurable campaigns for local, national and global markets.  He has managed both regional and national marketing teams, all with multiple annual campaign budgets in the millions.

Throughout his career, he has worked with a variety of clients, including international entertainment corporations, media personalities, world-famous musicians and non-profits.   After spending more than ten years doing marketing for major record labels and recording artists, he opened his own digital consulting firm where he created social and digital campaigns for a variety of media-focused clients.  Most recently, he has overseen social and media strategy for the LDS Church, and he is currently the Vice President of Digital Strategy for the NBA’s Utah Jazz.

Nelson Altamirano

Nelson Altamirano is the LDS Business College Digital Marketing Program Chair. He oversees the College’s popular social media marketing degree (#instacool).

​

Nelson was born and raised in northern Chile, where he and his family joined the LDS Church when he was eight years old. After serving a mission in southern Chile, Nelson immigrated to the United States in 1999.

​

Being the first person in his family to graduate from college, Nelson received undergraduate degrees in architecture and information systems from BYU-Idaho and an MBA from the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business. During his professional career, he has held various marketing and IT leadership roles, running multi-national technology product development and digital marketing campaigns.

​

Nelson currently serves as a high councilor in the South Jordan Rushton View Stake. He and his wife, Rocio, have been married for 15 years and are the parents of three children.

Jessica is the Founder of Märkit23, a digital marketing agency that specializing in social media strategy and digital services that increase brand exposure online. 

 

Jessica's professional background in working with education, airline labor groups, and corporate management has uniquely positioned her to optimize brand messages that highlight an organization's value and people. Her expertise is sought out to consult existing marketing teams as well as form and execute social media strategies. She has a B.A. in International Economic Development from the University of California Davis and resides in Ogden, Utah.

MORGEN GLESSING

--Ignore Ideas, Pursue Pains--

Morgen Glessing is a senior in the Entrepreneurship Program in the Marriott School of Business at BYU.

 

After a failed startup as a student, he decided to focus on understanding what makes great ideas great and how to go about validating different aspects of your business model.  

 

He currently manages a new startup called Portal which is focused on improving public access for those with mobile disabilities which recently was awarded top student startup of 2018 in a statewide event held at the University of Utah.

 

Morgan grew up in Washington State and loves to spend his free time backpacking and rock climbing and has actually hiked all 3,000 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada in one summer.

THE LION'S DEN

Students and Faculty of LDS Business College

The Entrepreneurial Challenge sponsored by the LDSBC DECA Chapter will provide each participant an opportunity to design, develop, and present innovative business concepts.
 

Business concepts can be in any phase of business development including pre-startup (idea phase), starting your business, or growing your business.

 

Each participant or team (of 2) will create a 5 to 10-minute presentation and “pitch” their idea to judges. Participants are required to provide a 1 page Executive Summary of Business Concept to each judge- and are allowed to have up to 5 additional pages of supplemental information, including financials, visuals, etc. Judging will be based on the presentation and the summary.
 

Those teachers who attend FistBump '18 will serve as judges.  It was a great experience last year and we expect the same for 2018!
