Did you know YouTube is now the world’s number 2 search engine behind all mighty Google?  Not Bing, not Yahoo, Not Duck Duck Go, but YouTube.

So what does that mean for small businesses, local businesses, big businesses, and Batman alike?  Your YouTube marketing game must be strong young Padawan.  It must be strong.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one, or are saying it out loud right now.

“But I’m a small local business and I don’t have a huge advertising budget to promote my company video.  Why should I bother with YouTube marketing?”

YouTube

Well, to the second part of that question, I repeat: YouTube is now the world’s number 2 search engine.

For the first part of that question, to get started…YOU DON’T HAVE TO!

There are definitely benefits of promoted video content on YouTube, but if you’re a local business on a budget and want to maximize the content you do have let’s begin . . .

YouTube Tip #1: Phone Number and Branding Should be Visible in he Thumbnail

You may think this is obvious but you'd be surprised how many miss this one, and it's an egregious error.

Have you ever seen YouTube videos come up in search results? Of course you have! See that little preview of the video? That's the thumbnail! It is a static image that appears as a preview for your video on YouTube, in Search Engines, on Webpage embeds, and more.

Sometimes it takes people a few times of seeing things (typically 3...) before they #1 commit it to memory but #2 are willing to decide if they will make a purchasing decision from it. Once they're ready to take action, they may not need or want to play your video to the end where you flash your phone number. Maybe they know what they need to know about you from visiting your website, seeing your reviews on Google or Yelp, and just need your phone number. Or maybe they love your thumbnail so much they want to call. IT HAPPENS!
