2. Take a SWOT At It

A SWOT analysis is a tool that will help you develop a strategy for your Tip-Off.

SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.

Strengths and weaknesses are internal to your class, club, or organization. This includes things you have some control over, including the skills and talents of your classmates, location, facilities, and so on.

Opportunities and threats are external—things that happen outside your class or club. You can use these opportunities to your advantage and take steps to protect against the threats. However, you can't change them--they are outside your control.

A SWOT analysis examines your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats into a list and is typically placed in a two-by-two grid.

Why do a SWOT Analysis?

A SWOT analysis prepares you with a strategy for doing what is necessary to host a successful event.

You may think that you already know all that is necessary to succeed. However, a SWOT analysis forces you to take a look at your event in different ways. You'll find ways to leverage your strengths and weaknesses, take advantage of opportunities and prepare for threats that may exist.
